At our presentation on May 7th, Rachel Guinn presented to staff in a break-out session on the topic of using blogs in several different ways, encouraging many avenues of personal and professional usage.
For the Classroom, Rachel introduced a popular tool in our district -- free, secure blogs provided by for staff and student usage by our district partners at Oakland Schools. Staff were introduced to the ease of setting up and maintaining a blog to inspire student discussion with many levels of contribution and collaboration. These are housed at http://blog.oakland.k12.mi.us
For Recreational Use, more personal blogs were mentioned to attempt to get at general interests, such as http://www.detroittigersweblog.com and http://www.ruthincondechi.blogspot.com. All in all, staff was show that blogs are available for use in every avenue, and have absolutely changed the way that information is shared.

For Professional Learning, staff was introduced to a variety of resources that Rachel herself had personally learned from, and reviewed the tagging system at each individual blog for easy locating of useful, relevant information.
